Not just a bar...
Post 1468 is much more than “just a bar.” True, we do have a bar, but it’s not the bar that makes the Legion; it’s the individual men and women you’ll find sitting there that make us a Legion.
You will not hear loud music and will most likely not get a trendy cocktail. But you will see men and women who, at some time in their lives, decided to stand up, put on a uniform, and willingly place themselves in harm’s way to defend the people of the United States. You will meet living History.
These people will sit quietly and share a drink with others like them. Whether words are spoken, they all know what each other went through. There is nothing unusual about them, they look like anybody else in our neighborhood, but underneath you will meet people of steel. Always willing to offer advice to younger veterans or their families, always ready with a joke or good-natured ribbing, they define the word “camaraderie.”
Occasionally we will come across a little bit of information on our Legionnaires, often provided by their family members because bragging is not in their makeup.
Posted on one of our walls is a paper regarding Chief Warrant Officer 2nd Kenneth W. Romancik. We call him Kenny. CW2 Romancik is very inconspicuous and quiet. But read the document to the left, provided by Ken’s family, and we’re sure you will look at Kenny in a new light.
We are honored that CW2 Romancik (SABER 37) chose us as his home. Please click on the image to the left to be taken to the Facebook page for B Troop, 1st Squadron of the 9th Cavalry.
Respect.
